It started at her kitchen table.

In 1990, Doris began helping family and friends with their taxes, no charge, just a genuine desire to help the people around her. Word spread. By 1995, her client list had grown so much through referrals alone that she had to start charging for her services. The people she helped told her to “step out on faith” and make it official.

In 1999, she did exactly that. Ms. Lady Professional Services was born, a practice built entirely on word of mouth, trust, and relationships. No advertising. No marketing budget. Just one person doing quality work for people who appreciated it.

For the next 24 years, Doris worked for local municipalities, learning government processes inside and out, mastering the systems that small businesses and contractors navigate every day. Another 10 years in the private sector rounded out her experience. When she went full-time with MLPS, she brought decades of institutional knowledge with her.

She’s a Registered Tax Return Preparer and a QuickBooks ProAdvisor Certified professional. But what her clients talk about isn’t the credentials, it’s that she explains things clearly, answers the phone, and stays available all year long.

Her clients call her anytime during the year, not just tax time. That’s not a slogan, it’s how she runs her business.

The owner describes the work as a “Virtual Business Manager” relationship because MLPS does not just file returns, the company helps clients think strategically, plan ahead, and build businesses that last.
